Bajrang Lal Takhar won India's maiden name in rowing gold at the Asian Games after triumphing in the men's single sculls by Friday.
Takhar, who also gave India its first silver medal four years ago in Doha, managed seven minutes 4.78 seconds to win the second gold for India at the Asian Games.
The silver went to Wang Hui Ming of Chinese Taipei with a time of seven minutes 7.33 seconds, while Iraq Haeider Hamarsheied clocked seven minutes 10.10 seconds to settle for the bronze medal at the International Rowing.
Takhar, Arjuna Award winner, led the 2,000 m race right from the start and won the gold medal with ease. He finished the first 500 meters in one minute 39.82 seconds and covered 1,000 meters in three minutes 26.32 seconds and 1,500 meters in five minutes 13.56 seconds.
Takhar was the second gold for India in Asia Cup. Cueist Pankaj Advani won the first gold medal for India.
